2). What concept/s in this class have you found most interesting? What was it about that concept/s that you found interesting?
Nonverbal communication really amazed me because I never realized how deep it could be. There are so many different human behaviors that convey messages that we are not aware of but this part of the book helped me understand the different concepts nonverbal communication has. I now watch movies and interactions with my friends differently because of the concepts I now grasp with nonverbal communications. Being able to communicate with people without actually physically communicating amazes me. Emotions and other codes are the messages that are conveyed between two people communicating non-verbally. It amazes me that I can communicate with my boyfriend across the room with my eyes and he automatically knows what message I am giving him. Just a certain look can simply mean, “I love you.” I love nonverbal communication!

ReplyDeleteI am also a fan of nonverbal communication. I was so glad to read that someone else was affected by the knowledge we gained from this class and you watch movies differently and interact with people differently. My family finds it amusing when we watch a movie and I say, “Did you catch that? His reaction, he didn’t make eye contact”. That is one that that amazed me with watching movies is that the actors are portraying a character yet they incorporate natural nonverbal cues. I guess the better the actor the better the nonverbal cues. Have you watched the television show “Lie to me”. It is a great show.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the chapter on Nonverbal Communication too. It really is eye opening to read how much nonverbal communication is around us without even thinking about it, we convey messages.
I chuckled a bit when you said your family finds it amusing when you say "Did you catch that?" when watching a movie because I do the same thing. Things that others don't think about, I seem to catch. Some people are more observant than others. Furthermore, I also enjoy people watching and relating a story to a person based on their attire. I don't do it to make fun of them but rather think about them.
Nonverbal Communication is such a natural thing for all of us. I think that we can convey so many feelings without even knowing that we did it and have other people know how we feel. I love it when my mom can just look at me and I know she’s saying that she misses me or loves me and even mad at me. Non verbal communication has helped me get out of so much trouble. As bad as it sounds, for example, I didn’t know the answer to a true or false question in class and it was asked in front of everyone. I wasn’t paying much attention in class and my friend signaled right with her hand pointing to the left which was false. I read her nonverbal communication and got the question right.
